Managers struggle with personal anxiety, grief and sometimes second guessing and hand wringing over dealing with problem employees. Dr. Harvey is one of the most focused people you will meet. Working full-time as a Human Resource Director for a large school district in Oregon, running a labor relations consulting business, going to law school part-time, teaching at the University as an Adjunct Professor, speaking and publishing speaking materials, and living for his family. One of the questions he is most often asked is how do you do it? It comes from “Personal Focus: Knowing who you are and what you are about.” You never know where you can go until you set a course to get there.

Dr. Harvey is noted for his work with school labor organizations and managers to change the culture from strife to cooperation and collaboration. Great leadership values the human spirit. Real men love for a lifetime, not for a moment, is a line from Dr. Harvey’s 2004 World Championship Speech “Lessons from Fat Dad.” In a time when some believe men have lost their identity in our turbulent society, this presentation focuses on the unconditional love men can offer their children and families and the great example it provides despite their mortal weaknesses. Twenty-eight years as an educator observing successful families, nearly three-decades as husband and father, Dr. Harvey speaks with the expertise of a scholar but the warmth of a father and husband. Women celebrate this presentation and men embrace the challenge to become their wife and children’s own “Fat Dad.”
Who Will Sing For Me: Mama’s Lesson

Bluegrass is in his blood, so its no surprise that this speech title comes from a blue grass hit song. At some point every individual ponders what legacy they will leave when they depart this earth. When Dr. Harvey was in the seventh grade he was expelled from school for strategically placing seven thumb tacks on his science teacher’s chair: to get a rise out of him. His Mama wasn’t happy about the whole situation. A stern conversation, followed by a reflective discussion over dinner, the young Harvey asked, “Will I be a great man some day?” His Mama’s reply, “Don’t settle for greatness. Be immortal.” The “Rest of the Story” is how we become Immortal!
